Ohio State Victorious in Five Events at Purdue – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s track and field team previewed the Big Ten-championship track Friday and Saturday at the Dave Rankin Invitational, hosted by Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. As a team, the Buckeyes captured victories in a total of five events.
The top effort of the day came in the 200-meter dash, where Ohio State athletes placed first and second in the event. Freshman Aaliyah Barnes claimed the title in a time of 24.14, while senior Ashlee Abraham earned runner-up honors in 24.42.
Junior Alexandria Johnson was victorious in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 13.68 seconds. Teammates Alexis Franklin (13.99) and Jasmine Glover (14.20) joined Johnson in the Top 5 — the sophomores placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
In the 5000-meter run, the win went to sophomore Minori Minagawa in a time of 17:24.44. Ohio State placed three athletes in the Top 4 overall. Senior Mallory Kreider was third in 17:48.18 and junior Nicole Hilton fourth in 17:48.34.
Ohio State also captured wins in both the 4×100-meter and 4×400-meter relays. Abraham, Barnes, senior Alycia Prior and sophomore Aliyah Everson combined for the win in the 4×1 in a time of 45.03, while Barnes, Franklin, Johnson and sophomore SoSo Walker turned in a season-best time of 3:39.99 to take home first-place in the 4×4.

Runner-up honors went to Everson in a time of 11.85 seconds.
800m
Freshman Rachel Weber placed fourth in a time of 2:12.04.
1500m
Ohio State went 4-5 in the event. Junior Katie Borchers was fourth in a time of 4:28.16, followed by sophomore Tammy Berger in a personal-best time of 4:29.26.
High Jump
Glover was the runner-up at a height of 1.65 meters (5-5.00).
Triple Jump
Senior Bianca Walton was fourth overall with a jump of 12.25 meters (40-2.25).
Pole Vault
Sophomore Emily Schwartz cleared a season-best 3.57 meters (11-8.50) to finish seventh overall.
Hammer Throw
A mark of 52.13 meters (171-0.25) helped junior Carly Pendleton to a second-place finish.
Shot Put
Sophomore Alyssa Gary was third overall with a season-best throw of 13.85 meters (45-5.25).
