“We have every returning athlete training in Columbus this summer as well as a few of our post-grads,” said head coach Bill Dorenkott. “I believe that speaks to the value we place on a purposeful, year-round commitment to reaching your potential.”
One of the highlights of the summer schedule is the Commonwealth Games, where two Buckeyes will represent Team Canada – Michelle Williams and Samantha Cheverton. The duo will also compete in the Pan Pacific Championships. Williams and Cheverton made the Canadian National Team roster thanks to their performances at the trials in April.
With the next Summer Olympics just two years away, the summer months are critical as Buckeye swimmers look to make their marks on the Rio Games in 2016.
“Our goal in the summer is to provide our swimmers with the opportunities and resources to reach their national and international goals,” said Dorenkott. “This is an important summer to set athletes up for their run to Rio in 2016.”
