COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team concluded competition at the Tennessee Fall Invite Sunday afternoon in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Buckeyes notched their second singles sweep of the tournament on the final day of competition, collecting a 13-2 singles record and 5-2 doubles ledger over the course of the weekend.
The Buckeyes posted five straight-set victories vs. Kentucky to seal their second singles sweep of the event. Freshman Olivia Sneed notched a 7-6, 6-2, win vs. Edmee Morin- Kougoucheff, while classmate Anna Sanford topped Kirsten Lewis, 6-3, 6-2. The Buckeye freshmen combined for a 6-0 record in singles play during the tournament. No. 69 Gabriella De Santis defeated Stephanie Fox, 6-4, 6-1. Ferny Angeles Paz posted a 6-1, 6-1, victory vs. Taylor Lederman, while Grainne O’Neill downed Kate Lanier, 6-0, 6-4.
In doubles competition, Sanford and Kowase teamed up to shut out ETSU’s Ana Gerbasi and Jayde Viccars, 8-0. The Buckeye tandem of Niehaus and O’Neill dropped an 8-6 match to ETSU’s Lyn Yee Choo and Reginka Nychytailova.
The event marks the final fall action for the Buckeyes. Ohio State will begin the spring season Jan. 29 with a doubleheader in Columbus, Ohio, vs. West Virginia at 9 a.m. and Cleveland State at 1 p.m.
