Sprinters Highlight Strong Weekend at Kentucky Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s track and field team enjoyed a successful two days of competition at the Kentucky Invitational Friday and Saturday in Lexington, Ky.
Seniors Chesna Sykes and Ashlee Abraham anchored a strong Buckeye performance in the sprints. Sykes placed second in both the 60- and 200-meter dashes, while Abraham was third in both events.

60m
Sykes turned in a time of 7.35, while Abraham crossed the finish line in 7.42 seconds.
60m Hurdles
Sixth place went to senior Alexandria Johnson in a time of 8.51 seconds.
200m
Sykes sprinted to a runner-up time of 23.85 seconds, the eighth-best time in Division I this season. Abraham’s third-place time of 24.15 ranks 14th in DI this season.
400m
Freshman Aaliyah Barnes was sixth overall in a time of 56.76.
800m
Freshman Rachel Weber won the event in a time of 2:13.49.
Mile
Two Buckeyes placed in the Top 5: sophomores Tammy Berger (third, 5:03.60) and Minori Minagawa (fifth, 5:06.13).
Long Jump
A leap of 5.90 meters (19-4.25) helped junior Abie Ehimwenman to fourth place.
High Jump
Sophomore Jasmine Glover cleared the bar at 1.65 meters (5-5.00) for a fifth-place finish overall.
4x400m Relay
Ohio State placed fourth overall in a time of 3:51.25.
Distance Medley
The Buckeyes finished second in 11:55.09, the sixth-best time in the nation so far this season.
