No. 14 Buckeyes Make Their Mark in Lexington – Ohio State Buckeyes

LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 14 Ohio State faced many of the nation’s best to wrap up the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet at the University of Kentucky Saturday. The Scarlet and Gray racked up 12 top 3 finishes and three gold medals on day two of the competition. Several new PRs were set as were top times in the nation by the Buckeyes in their third meet of the season.
Senior Christina Manning turned in the top performance for the Buckeyes by winning the 60m hurdles in an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 8.04. Manning’s time is also the fastest Division I time in the country this season. Manning claimed her second gold of the meet by running the 200m dash in 23.84. Chesna Sykes (24.08) and Aisha Cavin (24.35) finished off a Buckeye sweep of the top 3 in the 200m dash by placing second and third, respectively.
In the 400m dash Shaniqua McGinnis (54.48) also brought home gold with her time which stands as the 17th-best in the nation this season. In the 60m dash, Sykes set a new PR of 7.40 to claim the bronze.
To finish out top performances in the sprints was the Ohio State 4x400m relay `A’ team. The team composed of Kachay Hullum, Cavin, Nyjah Cousar and McGinnis claimed the silver medal with a time of 3:40.98, the 26th-best time in the nation.
On the distance side, Tori Brink set a new PR by placing second in a lightning fast 800m run in 2:10.44. Brink’s time keeps her as the third-fastest indoor 800m runner in school history. Running the fourth-best time in school history was Katie Betts who ran her fastest this season for third in 2:10.97.
The Scarlet and Gray ran four in the 3000m run and they each ran their fastest times on the season. Meredith Wagner (9:43.44) and Brink (9:46.31) led the way by placing second and third, respectively.
Ashley Galbraith tied her season-best mark in the high jump for third (1.76m/5-9.25).

60m Dash
Christienne Linton (7.62) and Adenike Pedro (7.62) also ran their way into the top 10 finishing ninth and 10th, respectively. Dominique Booker (7.35) from the University of Central Florida took gold in the 60m dash with the eighth-fastest time in the nation this season.
60m Hurdles?
Behind Manning for Ohio State was Linton who took fifth in 8.49.
200m Dash
Alexandria Johnson ran a 25.39 to finish 20th.
400m Dash
McGinnis was joined in the top 10 by Cousar(55.77) who placed seventh. Running a 56.90 was Hullum who took 16th.
800m Run?
Jennewine (2:12.33) and Katie Borchers (2:13.47) joined Brink and Betts in the top 10 with their fastest times of the season. Jennewine and Borchers placed eighth and 10th, respectively. Cincinnati’s Kathy Klump claimed first in 2:06.66, the 11th-fastest time in the nation.
3000m Run
Finishing in 9:55.44 was Nicole Hilton who placed 11th. Michelle Thomas used a time of 10:03.87 to take 17th. Jordan White from Vanderbilt placed first in 9:37.06.
Shot Put?
With a mark of 13.82m (45-4.25), Norianna Brown placed tenth in the shot put.Jeneva McCall (17.31m/56-9.5) collected another win for Southern Illinois with her second NCAA automatic qualifying mark in the shot put of the season.
Triple Jump
Kelcey McKinney picked up another fourth-place finish by leaping for 12.24m (40-2) in the triple jump. Rachael Mack (11.81m/38-9) and Abie Ehimwenman (11.79m/38-8.25) took ninth and 10th, respectively. Ashley Woodruff (10.95m/35-11.25) placed 16th. Southern Illinois’ Malaikah Love won with a mark of 12.50m (41-0.25).
4x400m Relay
The `B’ team of Janel Olberding, Jennewine, Betts and Borchers placed 12th in 3:56.63. South Carolina’s `A’ team won in 3:39.21.
