– Ohio State has won 12 of its last 14 games and 17 of its last 22.
– The Buckeyes are now 21-4 this season when they score first. Ohio State is now 14-3 when scoring in the first inning.
– The Buckeyes beat Illinois 7-6 Friday and 4-3 Saturday, marking their first back-to-back one-run wins since they swept No. 15 Northwestern, 2-1 and 3-2, April 9, 2006, at Buckeye Field. Ohio State is now 9-5 in one-run games this season.
– Buckeyes at the plate: Freshman Sam Marder’s third inning solo home run was her team-leading ninth of the season, which is one shy of the OSU freshman home runs record, set by Kristine Himes with 10 in 2000.
– Marder’s first inning single extended her career-high hitting streak to nine games. During that time Marder is batting .467 (14-30).
– Senior Christina Douglas hit a third inning single down the right field line to extend her career-best hitting streak to 10 games. During those 10 games, Douglas is batting .464 (13-28) … in Big Ten games only, Douglas is batting a team-best .478 … Douglas owns a career batting average of .269, but ups that to .318 (7-22) against Illinois.
– Senior Lauren Daykin’s second inning single to left field extended her career-best hitting streak to five games. During those five games, Daykin is batting .375 (6-16) … Daykin is a career .247 batter at Ohio State, but owns a .333 (4-12) career average against Illinois.
– The home run Saturday for senior Jamee Juarez was the 12th of her career. She is a .303 career hitter and ups that to .409 (9-22) in her career against Illinois. – Buckeyes in the circle: In the Ohio State career record book, senior Jamee Juarez ranks first in innings pitch (685.1), tied for first in wins (67), second in strikeouts (660, Chain first with 292), second in shutouts (23, Chain 26) and tied for third in complete games (60).
– In six career appearances vs. Illinois, Juarez is now 4-1 with a 2.57 ERA.
– Sophomore Kim Reeder is now 4-for-4 in her career in save opportunities.
– Buckeyes in the field: Ohio State did not commit an error Saturday. In Big Ten games, the Buckeyes own a .978 fielding percentage, while their fielding percentage overall is .956.
– Weather: Sunny and 73 degrees at first pitch. Breeze 5-10 MPH out to left field.
– Ohio State is now 10-4 all-time against Illinois since the Illini became a varsity sport in 2001. The Buckeyes are now 3-1 at UL’s Eichelberger Field.
