– Ohio State is now 99-10 in non-conference home games under 11th-year head coach Linda Kalafatis. The Buckeyes have won 22 non-conference home games in a row.
– The Buckeyes improve to 18-4 this season both when scoring first and out-hitting their opponent. Ohio State is now 11-3 when scoring in the first inning.
– After missing the first half of the season because of injury, Ohio State sophomore Cortney Cannon saw her first action of 2007 Wednesday, starting at designated player.
– Buckeyes at the plate: With a first inning RBI single up the middle, freshman Sam Marder drove in her team-leading 32nd run of the season, which are four shy of the OSU freshman RBI record, set by Jamee Juarez in 2004 with 36 … Marder’s triple in the fourth inning was the first of her career … Marder’s two hits extend her current streak six games, which ties her career high.
– Senior Christina Douglas’ single in the third inning extended her current hitting streak to a career-high seven games.
– Buckeyes in the circle: Freshman Megan Miller made her third collegiate start Wednesday and her first at Buckeye Field. She established career highs in innings pitched (7.0) and strikeouts (4) … Miller threw the fifth shutout by an OSU pitcher this season, compared to only two for OSU opponents.
– Weather: Sunny and 59 degrees at first pitch. Wind 5-15 MPH in from left-centerfield.
– The Buckeyes are now 4-1 all-time record against IUPUI.
– IUPUI has nine letterwinners, including five starters, back from its 2006 team that went 13-37 and finished sixth in the Mid-Continent Conference at 8-15.
