– Ohio State is now 15-4 this season when scoring first. – Game one Sunday marked Ohio State’s fourth win this season in their final at bat. In addition, the Buckeyes have two walk-off wins this season.
– Buckeyes at the plate: Freshman Sam Marder’s 30 runs batted in this season lead the team and are six shy of the Ohio State freshman record, set in 2005 by Jamee Juarez with 36.
– Junior Brittany Vanderink doubled off the wall in straight away center field with two outs in the third for her first double of the season, extending her current hitting streak to 11 games, which are two shy of her career record.
– Senior Nycole Koyano went 2-for-3 in the game for her team-leading 13th multiple-hit game of the season.
– Ohio State’s fourth-year seniors faced Wisconsin senior pitcher Eden Brock for the fifth time in their careers Sunday and several of them improved impressive career averages against her. Christina Douglas is 5-for-14 (.357) in her career against Brock, Jamee Juarez is 6-for-13 (.467) and Nycole Koyano is 5-for-15 (.333). Among current Buckeyes, Vanderink owns the best average against Brock at .625 (5-for-8).
– Buckeyes in the circle: Sophomore Kim Reeder threw her ninth complete game in 16 starts this season. She owns 96 strikeouts in 102.2 innings this season.
– Weather: Mostly cloudy and 63 degrees at first pitch. Wind 5-15 MPH right to left.
– Ohio State is now 13-16 all-time against Wisconsin. The Buckeyes are now 8-5 against the Badgers at Buckeye Field.
– Wisconsin has nine starters back from its 2006 team that went 22-22 overall and 6-11 in the Big Ten.
