– Buckeyes at the plate: Sophomore Courtney Pruner’s grand slam was the second by a Buckeye this season (Sam Marder, opening day vs. New Mexico). The four RBI for Pruner tied her career high and the home run was the 10th of her career.
– The two RBI for freshman Sam Marder give her a team-best 25 this season. The record for RBI by an OSU freshman is 36 (Jamee Juarez, 2004). Marder’s double was her fifth of the season, tying her for the team lead with senior Megan Schwab.
– Buckeyes in the circle: With one inning pitched, senior Jamee Juarez moved into second place on the Ohio State career innings pitched list (631.2). Belinda Quisenberry had been No. 2 with 631.0 innings from 1990-93. The record for innings pitched by a Buckeye is 677.1 by Katie Chain (2000-03).
– Weather: Cloudy and 63 degrees at first pitch. Breeze 5-15 MPH left to right. Light drizzle during game.
– Long Beach State now leads the all-time series with Ohio State 11-4. The 49ers’ win Tuesday snapped the Buckeyes’ three game winning streak in the series. – Long Beach State has six starters back from its 2006 team that went 31-22 overall and made the program’s 17th appearance in the NCAA tournament.
