Schwab, Vanderink Named to All-Big Ten Tournament Team – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State outfielders Megan Schwab and Brittany Vanderink were named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team Saturday following the conclusion of the tournament hosted by Northwestern. In the Buckeyes’ two games, the duo both had three hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs.
The fourth-seeded Buckeyes (38-21, 11-7 Big Ten) defeated No. 5 Penn State, 9-6, Friday in a quarterfinal game before falling to No. 1 seed and 11th-ranked Northwestern, 4-0, Saturday.
Schwab (Jr., Glendale, Ariz./Sunrise Mountain) batted .500 (3-for-6), including a 2-for-3 effort against Penn State with a RBI triple and a 1-for-3 outing against Northwestern.
Vanderink (So., Hiram, Ohio/Crestwood) went 3-for-5 and scored three runs against Penn State Friday, extending her hitting streak to 13 games, including a two-run triple. She reached base twice Saturday on Wildcat errors but was held hitless to end the tournament 3-for-8 (.375).
Vanderink was a first-team All-Big Ten pick and Schwab earned second-team honors, announced Thursday.
