EVANSTON, Ill. – Rain cancelled the first two games of the Big Ten softball tournament Thursday at Northwestern’s Sharon J. Drysdale Field, forcing a rescheduling that will affect No. 4 seed Ohio State’s quarterfinal game against No. 5 seed Penn State.
The Buckeyes (37-20, 11-7 Big Ten) and Nittany Lions (37-14, 10-10 Big Ten) are now scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. (EDT) Friday in the last of the tournament’s four quarterfinal games.
No. 1 seed Northwestern and No. 2 seed Michigan were to have played their quarterfinal games Thursday against No. 8 seed Illinois and No. 7 seed Michigan State but will now play those games beginning at 10 a.m. (EDT) Friday, followed by the third quarterfinal game featuring No. 3 seed Iowa and No. 6 seed Indiana.
The two semifinal games and championship will be played Saturday. The first semifinal begins at 10 a.m. (EDT), followed the semifinal on Ohio State’s side of the bracket at 12:30 a.m. (EDT). The championship is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. (EDT).
