COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team’s game against Notre Dame Saturday, originally scheduled to start at 7 p.m., has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. The game was scheduled to be the fifth game today in the second day of the Buckeye Invitational, but steady rain in Columbus this afternoon forced a reshuffling of the Buckeye Invitational schedule.
A four and a half hour rain delay in the 1 p.m. game between Eastern Michigan and Ball State forced the cancellation of games originally scheduled for 3 p.m. between Eastern Michigan and Oakland and the nightcap between the Buckeyes (12-6) and Fighting Irish (11-7). Following the completion of the EMU-BSU game, Notre Dame and Marshall will meet in the final game Saturday. The EMU-Oakland contest will not be rescheduled, as well.
The Buckeye Invitational schedule will resume as originally scheduled Sunday, with Oakland playing Ball State at 10 a.m., Oakland playing Notre Dame at noon, Eastern Michigan playing Notre Dame at 2 p.m. and Ohio State playing Marshall at 4 p.m.
