Postgame Notes
– Chelsea Baker’s single in the seventh inning extended her current hitting streak to seven games. Her two at bats against Minnesota Saturday were her first since March 20 vs. Northern Illinois.
– With two hits in the game, Karisa Evans collected her team-leading 10th multi-hit game of the season.
– Breana Pozzi entered the game without an RBI this season, but produced three RBI Saturday, tying her career high.
– Jamee Juarez picked up her ninth win of the season Saturday to move into a tie for fifth place in pitching wins by a freshman at Ohio State. Juarez entered the game with eight wins, which had been tied with OSU pitching coach Belinda Cernava, who won eight games as a freshman in 1990.
– Jamee Juarez went 3-for-6 in the two-game series vs. Minnesota. She has at least one hit in 15 of her last 17 games to raise her batting average from .152 (as of Feb. 29) to .302, its highest level of the season.
– With four runs in the first inning Saturday, Ohio State has now out-scored its opponents 30-7 in the first inning of games this season.
– Ohio State improves to 4-1 at home this season. In addition, the Buckeyes are 14-2 when scoring first and 17-1 when out-hitting their opponent and leading after five innings.
– The win for Ohio State snaps the Buckeyes’ four-game losing skid, the team’s longest of the season.
– Minnesota leads the all-time series against Ohio State, 55-23.
