COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team beat Pittsburgh (16-24), 2-0, in the second game of a twin bill Wednesday evening at Buckeye Field. The Buckeyes moved to 25-14 overall. Sophomore pitcher Chelsea Baker moved to 6-1 on the year and was 3-for-3 at the plate for the Buckeyes.

In the bottom of the second, Ohio State tallied four hits and scored both runs of the game. Baker advanced to second before McAbier singled through the left side and advanced on the throw, which brought Juarez home. Johnson hit a single to left centerfield and crossed Baker at home plate.
Ohio State’s defense stepped it up by forcing the Panthers to leave two runners on base in three different innings and totaled nine runners left on base. In the fifth inning, Pittsburgh tallied two hits and had runners on first and third with two outs, but third baseman Juarez caught a fly ball to end the inning. In the final plays of the game, Pittsburgh threatened to score, with runners on first and second, but shortstop Johnson caught a Panther fly ball and ended the non-conference game.
