Notes
– Kristi DeVries’ total of 10 strikeouts is a new season-high, topping her previous season-high of eight set vs. Cal State-Fullerton Feb. 29. DeVries has won her last two starts after beginning the season 0-3. The game is her second career no-hitter – her first was April 17, 2002 vs. Morehead State in which she also had 10 strikeouts.
– The five runs Ohio State scored in the second inning marks the highest output in one inning for the Buckeyes this season, topping the previous high of four runs scored on two occasions (Feb. 15 vs. Arizona State and Feb. 29 vs. Cal State-Fullerton).
– Ohio State has now won four of its last six games to improve to a game over the .500 mark for the second time this season.
– With the win Saturday, Ohio State improves to 18-1 all-time vs. Wright State.
– Ohio State fashioned a perfect 9-0 record during the fall season, all against Ohio teams, including wins vs. Dayton (7-0) and Wright State (5-2) Oct. 11 at the Wright State Raider Fall Classic.
– With a 9-1 win vs. Dayton earlier in the day, Ohio State recorded back-to-back mercy rule wins for the first time since defeating Kentucky, March 5, 2003, by the final scores of 10-2 and 12-3.
– The homerun by Natalie Hales is her second of the season. Her total of three RBI tops her previous career high of two set when she hit a two-run homer vs. Cal State-Northridge Feb. 13.
– Ohio State’s eight runs and 11 hits are both one shy of the season-high nine runs and 12 hits the team collected in a 9-1 win vs. Dayton earlier Saturday.
