Ohio State Softball Loses, 6-0, at Wisconsin in Game Two – Ohio State Buckeyes

The Ohio State softball team (23-22; 4-10 Big Ten) lost, 6-0, at Wisconsin (17-24; 6-12 Big Ten) in game two Sunday afternoon at Goodman Diamond in Madison, Wis. Beth McAbier (Jr., Carrollton, Ohio) went 2-for-3, and despite leaving six runners on base, the Buckeyes could not convert and Wisconsin earned the conference victory.
Wisconsin’s Anastasia Miller hit her second home run in as many games and brought home Erin Barnharst and Diana Consolmagno to put the Badgers up 3-0 in the top of the second inning. Barnharst hit a single to left field to reach first and Consolmagno advanced on a fielder’s choice.
Badger Emily Friedman was walked with two outs and advanced around the bases off consecutive singles from Barnharst and Consolmagno, respectively. Friedman crossed home off the throw after Consolmagno’s hit.
Wisconsin would not let up as both Barnharst and Consolmagno each scored an additional run in the top of the seventh. After Barnharst reached off a single to left field, Consolmagno homered up the middle to bring both runners home and up the score to 6-0 in favor of Wisconsin.
Buckeye pitcher Katie Chain (North Canton, Ohio) was credited with the loss and moved to 10-12 overall and Badger pitcher Katie Layne earned the win to improve to 3-8.
The Buckeyes play host to Marshall in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at Buckeye Field in Columbus, Ohio.
