Ohio State Softball Announces Fall Schedule – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team has announced its 2000 fall schedule. The Buckeyes will play host in two invitationals, one to be held at Buckeye Field and the other at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio. The Buckeyes will finish out their fall season with the Ohio State Alumni Game.
Buckeye Fall Invitational
On Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, Ohio State will play host to the Buckeye Fall Invitational, which will feature Ohio State, Robert Morris, Shawnee State and the 18 & under Grand Slam and Miami Valley Express teams. All games will be played at Buckeye Field located behind the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic
The Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic will be held Oct. 6-8 at Firestone Stadium located in Akron, Ohio. The invitational will feature all Division I schools from the state of Ohio. Teams include Akron, Kent State, Youngstown State, Toledo, Ohio University, Wright State, Dayton, Miami, Cleveland State and Bowling Green.
Hosted by Ohio State and co-hosted by all the other schools in the tournament, the charity classic will feature a round-robin play in which team seedings will be determined. The tournament will wrap up Sunday, Oct. 8, after a champion is decided and an all-tournament team is announced.
The charity classic is being held to benefit breast cancer research. All proceeds from ticket sales will be distributed to a local breast cancer reseach organization at the conclusion of the weekend tournament. Tickets for the event are $5.00 per day with one re-entry into the stadium with the ticket stub and are available at Firestone Stadium.
Ohio State Alumni Game
The 2000-01 Buckeyes will compete against former Ohio State softball players Oct. 14 in the annual Ohio State Alumni Game. The game will round out the fall schedule with the regular season beginning Feb. 9, 2001.
