Softball’s Martin Pitches Career No Hitter For 6-0 Win – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State Softball (2-0) shut out Nicholls State, 6-0, off a stunning performance from sophomore pitcher Kristi Martin. Martin posted her first career no hitter and struck out seven in her first start since May 2, 1998 for the Buckeye win.%^$
%^$Ohio State began the first inning with a 3-0 lead after Anna Smith notched a single into left field and stole second. Jennifer Link slapped a single to centerfield to send Smith home. Two batters later, Rogeanna Hottinger posted her first collegiate hit to right field to score Holly English and Link.%^$
%^$The Buckeyes followed with another pair of runs in the second as Link scored Smith and Kristi Martin off a single to leftfield. Ohio State led 5-0.%^$
%^$Ohio State recorded the 6-0 win after Smith singled and scored Fowler in the sixth inning.%^$
%^$Smith posted another great game, going 3-for-4, posting one RBI and two stolen bases. She is now 6-for-8 in the tournament.%^$
%^$Inside the circle, Martin, who was medically redshirted last season because of two elbow surgeries, posted a perfect game, giving up no hits and striking out seven in her first game since May 2, 1998.%^$
%^$Ohio State (2-0) will now take on No. 7-ranked Louisiana State at 5 p.m. in the third game of the LSU Tiger Classic.
