Softball Loses a Doubleheader to Purdue, 7-0 and 16-2 – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team (12-22 overall, 1-9 in Big Ten) lost a doubleheader to the Purdue Boilermakers (24-16 overall, 5-4 in Big Ten), 7-0 and 16-2.
For Ohio State, Jaime Chenevey (Sr., Wooster, Ohio), Samantha Kimura (Fr., Placentia, Calif.) and Carrie Vanderpool (Sr., Corona, Calif.) each had a pair of hits for the day.
The Boilermakers jumped on the injury plagued OSU pitching staff for 30 hits in the two games.
Inside the circle, Toni Hileman (Jr., Alliance, Ohio) started both games and was charged with both losses. Her record is now 4-17 on the year. Purdue’s Nicole Crouse (11-8) and Meagan Dooley (12-7) won games one and two, respectively.
The afternoon did mark the return of Anna Smith (Fr., Walnut, Ohio) to the lineup. The outfielder missed the last seven games with a bruised calf.
The Buckeyes will travel to East Lansing, Mich., for a three-game series with the Michigan State Spartans beginning on Saturday.
