Meet Softball’s Opponents – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State Buckeyes (4-6 overall, 0-0 in the Big Ten) will travel to Lexington, Ky., for the 1999 Kentucky Invitational. Other teams in the field will be the host school Kentucky, Akron and Canisius. The trip is the first ever to the Bluegrass State for the Buckeyes.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
The Kentucky Wildcats enter the tournament with a 6-9 overall record. They competed in the Georgia State Softball Classic last weekend, finished with a 2-2 record but did not face Ohio State due to the weather. Offensively, the team is led by sophomore outfielder Tiffany Kruse. She is carrying a .444 batting average with eight runs batted in. Inside the circle, Jennifer Howland has a team low 1.15 earned run average and Keary Camunas has a team high three wins. The head coach is Beth Kirchner.

SCOUTING THE ZIPS
The Akron Zips enter this weekend with a 2-3 overall record. Their only action of the season came at the Triangle Classic in Raleigh, N.C. Offensively, the team is led by Kelli Metzger. She is batting .571 with three home runs and seven runs batted in. Jana Jenkins is chipping in with a .375 BA. Inside the circle, Tiffany McCoy has a team low 2.06 earned run average. The head coach is Deanna Parks.
BUCKEYES vs. ZIPS HISTORY
The Buckeyes have a 7-5 edge over the Zips in the all-time series between the two schools. The two schools last met in 1991 and split a two game series. OSU won the first game 3-0 and lost the second 2-1.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN GRIFFINS
The Canisius Golden Griffins enter this weekend with a 2-2 record. Offensively, the team is led by Amy Dodd and Joy Judski. They are both carrying a .500 batting average. Judski is tied for the team lead with four runs batted in. Inside the circle, Genevieve Garcia has a team low 2.33 earned run average. The head coach is Mike Rappl.
