Atlanta, Ga. – Day one of the Georgia State Softball Classic proved to be a good one for the Ohio State Buckeyes (4-5 overall). Three games in the span of nine hours culminated with a 3-1 win over host school Georgia State. The victory gives OSU a season high three-game winning and vaulted them into first place going into the final day of tournament.
The Buckeyes got on board in the top of the second inning. With one out, Holly English (So., Akron, Ohio) walked and stole second base. She would score two batters later off a wild pitch by GSU starter Jaci Davis. The next inning, OSU added another run when Jaime Chenevey (Sr., Wooster, Ohio) doubled and scored when Renae Weigel (Jr., Coldwater, Ohio) hit into a fielders choice.
The Chenevey and Weigel combo connected again in the top of the fifth inning to give OSU a 3-0 lead. With one out, Chenevey singled and scored two batters later off a Weigel single. Chenevey finished the game going 3-for-4. Weigel finished the game going 1-for-3 with two runs batted in.
