HONOLULU, Hawaii – The Ohio State Buckeyes (1-4 overall) concluded the third day of the Paradise Classic with a 2-1, extra-inning loss to Loyola Marymount.
Samantha Kimura (Fr., Placentia, Calif.) put the Buckeyes on board. In the second inning, she lined a single to right field. Carrie Vanderpool (Sr., Corona, Calif.) pushed Kimura to second base with a walk. Natalie Woods (Jr., Gilbert, Ariz.) immediately followed with her first hit and RBI of her OSU career to give OSU an early 1-0 lead.
The Buckeyes would have their chances to increase their lead but ended up stranding 10 runners in the game.
In the fourth inning, LMU took advantage of an OSU error by right fielder Stacy Roth (Fr., Wauseon, Ohio), to tie the score at one.
The game remained tied until the extra frame. In the eighth inning, LMU drove home the winning run with a two out RBI single.
In the circle for OSU was Meaghan Robinson (Sr., Naples, Fla.), who saw her record go to a deceiving 0-3 for the season. She went the distance and did not give up an earned run. In her three outings this season, she has given up only four earned runs and has struck out 14 batters.
