Men’s Volleyball Falls To Loyola In Five Games – Ohio State Buckeyes

CHICAGO, IL – The Ohio State (7-1 overall, 4-1 Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) men’s volleyball squad, ranked fourth nationally by the USA TODAY/AVCA and Volleyball Magazine Poll, was defeated in five games by Loyola-Chicago (3-5, 1-2) Saturday night. The 9-15, 15-12, 15-10, 12-15, 15-10 Rambler win took two hours and thirty-five minutes. Loyola’s Ted Groves had a match-high 36 kills with Justin Schnor adding 22 and Chris Steponaitis 15. OSU’s Pieter Olree had a team-high 24 kills with Chris Fash adding 22.
Ohio State hit .292 for the match to .278 for Loyola. The Ramblers had a 14 to 13.5 advantage in blocks and had a ten to six margin in ace serves. Ohio State outdug Loyola 66 to 55.
The Buckeyes have a week off before traveling to the Golden Dome Tournament to face Rutgers-Newark Fri., Feb. 18 and Penn State Sat., Feb. 19.
