Three Buckeyes Earn All-MIVA Awards

Shane Wetzel, Eliel Salva-Torres and Stanislaw Chacinski honored
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association coaches selected three Buckeyes to 2026 All-MIVA teams, the league office announced Thursday.Â
Shane Wetzel, a senior opposite hitter from Lake Mary, Florida, and Eliel Salva-Torres, a junior middle blocker from Puerto Rico, earned All-MIVA First Team honors. Stanislaw Chacinski, a sophomore outside hitter from Warsaw, Poland, was named to the All-MIVA Second Team. Â
Wetzel, who also was a first-team All-MIVA selection in 2025, was a second team All-MIVA honoree in both 2023 and 2024 in addition to being named an honorable mention AVCA All-American in each of the last three years. He was the league newcomer of the year in 2023.Â
This year, Wetzel leads the Buckeyes with 277 kills and 32(t) aces. He also moved into the Top 10 in Ohio State program history with 1,295 kills, is fourth in career aces with 142 and 10th in career points with 1,536.Â
Salva-Torres is in his first season at Ohio State following a transfer from Lincoln Memorial. He has 147 kills,13 aces and a team-high 92 blocks this year for the Buckeyes.Â
Chacinski is second on the team in kills with 254. He also has 23 aces with 42 blocks. Chacinski was tabbed the 2025 MIVA Newcomer of the Year and a first team All-MIVA honoree.Â
The Buckeyes are back in action at 7 p.m. Saturday in the quarterfinal round of the 2026 MIVA Tournament. Ohio State, the No. 5 seed, travels to face No. 4 McKendree.
