DALLAS, Texas – Ohio State finished strong at the Maridoe Invitational, posting its best round of the 54-hole event on Wednesday to finish seventh in the 15-team field.
The Buckeyes got better each day, carding a 3-over 291 on Wednesday to jump up a spot to seventh at 20-over par. This was one of the strongest fields the Buckeyes will be in this year as five of the Top 10 teams were in action.
Individually, sophomore Maxwell Moldovan made five birdies in his round of 2-under 70 to finish in a tie for seventh at even-par. This was the fourth Top 10 of his career.
Patrick Schmucking also came home in a round of 2-under 70 on Wednesday. He made four birdies in the final round and had a total of eight for the week, finishing tied for 18th at 3-over par.
Freshman Jacob Tarkany came through with a counting round on Wednesday, finishing with his best round of the tournament at 2-over 74. Jackson Chandler posted a final round 81.
The Buckeyes will have next week off to prepare for the Windon Memorial hosted by Northwestern at Lake Shore Country Club in Glencoe, Ill. The fall will then culminate the following week with the Barbara Nicklaus Cup which will be played at Muirfield Village.
