MILLINGTON, Tenn. – Day three of the 2000 Service Academies Classic has produced nothing but continuous rain. Today’s 4 p.m. Ohio State baseball game vs. Memphis is officially postponed because of rain. The game has been rescheduled for tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. at Nat Burling Stadium on the University of Memphis campus. Pitcher Nate Smith (So.. Bryan, Ohio) is scheduled to start against Memphis.
With a win, Ohio State will advance to the tournament’s championship game, now rescheduled for 3 p.m. against the winner of the Service Academy Division.
The Buckeyes opened their season and the tournament with a pair of thrilling games. Yesterday against Navy, OSU lost in extra-innings 4-3. In the second game, the Buckeyes used a solid pitching performance from preaseason All-American E.J. Laratta and a clutch home run from shortstop Trent McIlvain to upset No. 25 Notre Dame, 5-4.
