
No. 10 Buckeyes Drop Road Match at No. 15 Vanderbilt

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 10-ranked Ohio State women's tennis team fell to No. 15 Vanderbilt, 5-2, Sunday in an outdoor match in Nashville. The Buckeyes won the doubles point, but the Commodores claimed five singles wins, with four in three sets, for the victory. Ohio State is now 4-3, with Vanderbilt 4-2.

Ohio State will host two matches next weekend, taking on Kentucky at 5 p.m. Friday and No. 18 Arizona State at 10 a.m. Sunday. Admission is free, with the matches to be played inside the Varsity Tennis Center (880 West Henderson Road).
Quoting Head Coach Melissa Schaub
"We have to be better. We don't have any excuses, we just need to get back to work. We will find out what this team is made of in the next couple of weeks. It doesn't get any easier for us with Kentucky and Arizona State coming to us this weekend. We have been on the road a lot to start the season so it will be nice to be home. We need to put in a really good and tough week to get ourselves ready."
In Doubles
- The tandem of Isabelle Boulais and Danielle Wolf notched the first doubles victory, with a 6-4 win over Marcella Cruz and Dasha Kourkina on court three.
- The other doubles matches went to a tiebreaker, with each tiebreak finishing 7-3.
- On court two, the Commodore duo of Emma Kurtz and Anna Ross prevailed over Shiori Fukuda and Luna Dormet, leaving court one to decide the doubles point.
- On court one, Ohio State's Kolie Allen and Irina Cantos Siemers prevailed over the nation's No. 9-ranked duo of Christina Rosca and Georgia Drummy. The Buckeyes, serving at 5-6, saved two match points, winning on the no-ad point to force the tiebreaker. In the breaker, Ohio State led 3-0. Vanderbilt drew within two (4-2), but the Buckeyes held on for the win and doubles point.
In Singles
- Vanderbilt won five of six singles matches for the team victory, with four going to a third set.
- Freshman Irina Cantos Siemers, ranked 62nd, pushed the Buckeye lead to 2-0, with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Marcella Cruz on court five.
- Vanderbilt tied the match at two with back-to-back wins. On court six, Dasha Kourkina won 6-4, 6-2 over Luna Dormet and on court two, No. 24-ranked Georgia Drummy rallied from a set down to beat No. 99 Danielle Wolf, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1.
- The Commodores went ahead 3-2 when Anna Ross topped Kolie Allen, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, on court four and then clinched the victory with a victory from No. 31 Christina Roca over No. 8 Shiori Fukuda, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, on court one.
- The final match went to a third set tiebreaker, with Isabelle Boulais falling to Emma Kurtz, 1-6, 6-4, 7-6, on court three.
