Junior helped Buckeyes to two wins last week
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Luciana Perry, a junior on the No. 2-ranked Ohio State women's tennis team, was named the Big Ten Player of the Week Wednesday. Perry, ranked third, was 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles in two Buckeye wins last week.Â
Against No. 8-ranked NC State, Perry and Audrey Spencer shut out the No. 16-ranked duo of Anna Zyryanova and Jasmine Conway on court two, 6-0. In singles, Perry defeated No. 36-ranked Mia Slama on court one, 6-2, 7-6 (5) for a 3-1 Ohio State lead, with Ohio State going on to win 5-2. In the Big Ten opener on the road, Perry and Spencer led Olivia Dorner and Maelie Monfils on court one, 5-1, when doubles was clinched. In singles, Perry dropped just one game in each set on court one vs. Monfils for a 6-1, 6-1 win and a 2-0 Ohio State en route to a 5-2 victory.
Perry and the Buckeyes return to action with a noon ET match at No. 12 Oklahoma State Sunday in Stillwater, Okla.  Â
