2017-18 (Freshman Season): Posted first collegiate singles win over Clemson’s Fernanda Navarro in three sets Sept. 23 … injured to start dual match season … three singles wins in tournament play … nine doubles victories overall, with two in dual matches … earned ITA Scholar-Athlete, Ohio State Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Big Ten honors.
2016-17 (Redshirt Season): Did not see match action after joining the squad in January.
Prior to Ohio State: Attended Evert Tennis Academy … reached ITF junior ranking of No. 329 in May … participated in many ITF grade 1, including Banana Bowl, Brazil Porto Alegre, Coffee Bowl (Copa Del Cafe), College Park, International Spring Championship, Osaka Cup, Yucatan Cup, as well as the grade A tournament in Milan (Trofeo Bonfiglio) … … finalist in Tennis Europe tournaments in both 14’s and 16’s … won grade five ITF doubles title … reached singles quarterfinals and doubles semifinals in grades 4, 3 and 2 ITF tournaments … won multiple Russian National tournaments in 12’s, 14’s and 16’s … graduate of K12 International Academy.
Personal: Daughter of Vladimi Tyrin and Natalia Shumilina … has an older sister, Santa Shumilina, who played tennis professionally as well as at Ole Miss and UNLV … majoring in economics … enjoys cooking.
