Brandon Bailey joined the men's basketball staff in July of 2023.
Bailey comes to Columbus with a wealth of experience both at the collegiate and professional levels. He worked with both the men’s and women’s programs at DePaul and then spent 10 years in the Boston Celtics organization, serving as an assistant coach and head coach of the Maine Red Claws, the organization’s G League affiliate. He most recently was an assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons.
Bailey began his coaching career at his alma mater DePaul, in the early 2000s. He spent time with both the men’s and women’s teams at DePaul, ultimately serving as the director of operations on Oliver Purnell’s men’s staff. He then joined the Boston Celtics organization in 2011 as a video coordinator and served two seasons as the head coach of the Maine Red Claws, the organization’s G-League affiliate, in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
Following his time with the Red Claws, he joined Brad Steven’s staff as an assistant coach for the Celtics in 2019. He spent two seasons with the Celtics before Team USA as an assistant coach in 2021-22. Last season, Bailey was an assistant coach and head of player development for the Detroit Pistons.
Bailey was born in Chicago, Ill. and graduated from DePaul with a sociology degree in 2009.
