COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State softball head coach Kelly Kovach Schoenly added five student-athletes for the 2022 season on Wednesday. Kaitlyn Farley, Kennedy Kay, Kami Kortokrax, Reagan Milliken and Melina Wilkison signed National Letters of Intent to compete for the Buckeyes.
Kaitlyn Farley | SS/OF | Encinitas, Calif. | La Costa Canyon
Received first team All-Avocado West honors as a sophomore…Plays club ball for Athletics Jendro Premier…Helped the squad qualify for the 2019 PGF Premier and had the highest batting average on the team (.558)…A two-time USSSA World Series Champion with Athletics Jendro Premier and USSA Pride.
“Kaitlyn is a dynamic and versatile player,” Schoenly said. “She can play both middle infield and outfield at a high level. Defensively, she has tremendous range and a very strong arm. Kaitlyn’s speed on the bases is elite. We expect her to cause havoc on the base paths. She is a true triple threat from the left side of the plate. In the last year, she has added more power into her offense and as she grows and trains, the sky is the limit for her.”

Kennedy Kay | P | Creston, Ohio | Norwayne High School
Two-time first team All-Wayne County and all-district honoree…Earned second team All-Ohio laurels in 2018…Helped the Bobcats win the 2018 WCAL Championship and was the league’s MVP…Plays travel ball for the Ohio Lasers Gambone.
“Kennedy is one of the top pitchers in the 2021 class,” Schoenly said. “She has a great combination of velocity, movement and change of speeds. She is incredibly strong and at 6-2, she is an intimidating force on the mound. Although she has been extremely successfully in the travel ball ranks, I think her best days are ahead of her. She has a passion for learning and for being a Buckeye – a great combination for success.”

Kami Kortokrax | UTL | Westerville, Ohio | Bishop Hartley High School
Garnered first team All-Central Catholic League and all-district laurels twice…Was an All-Ohio honorable mention as a freshman and All-Metro honorable mention as a sophomore…Named the offensive player of the year for the Hawks as a freshman…Plays club ball for the Beverly Bandits…Also thrived in basketball as a two-time varsity captain and secured first team all-league honors twice.
“Kami is a born winner,” Schoenly said. “Her passion and enthusiasm are contagious. She has a unique ability to make any team she is on better because of her energy and true love of the game. Athletically, she has it all. She can hit for power, has a strong arm, steals bases and can play just about anywhere on the field. I appreciate that she has put in the work and has gotten better with every summer. No doubt, she will be a hometown favorite.”

Reagan Milliken | 1B | Bethel Park, Pa. | Bethel Park High School
Earned first team All-WPIAL and second team All-Pennsylvania recognition in 2019…Received second team All-WPIAL honors as a freshman…Plays travel ball for Ohio Lasers Black.
“Reagan is a true power player,” Schoenly said. “She will play the corners for us and add home run power to our lineup. Reagan has a pure swing, tremendous hand-eye coordination and the ability to hit for power to all fields with confidence. She loves the big moments and has the mentality to make a difference in the game with one swing.”

Melina Wilkison | OF | Greensburg, Ind. | Greensburg High School
Led the Pirates in nearly every statistical category as a freshman and sophomore…Was an All-Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference honoree in 2018 and 2019…Team MVP and third team All-Indiana as a sophomore…Set the single-season record with 10 triples…Topped the conference in batting average as a freshman and sophomore (.558, .634)…Plays club ball for the Beverly Bandits…Also helped the basketball team to two WPIAL Championships and three straight 3A Sectional Championships, which is a school record.
“One word comes to mind when I think of Melina – scrappy,” Schoenly said. “She will fight to get every base, every hit and every catch on the field. Melina will add to our outfield depth and bring a power punch at the plate. Her aggressive base-running style was something that made her stand out as a recruit. Her speed will benefit her on defense as well as she can cover substantial ground in the outfield.”
