
Big Ten & Home Opener On Deck This Weekend vs. Iowa

COLUMBUS, Ohio – After a month on the road, unseasonably warm weather and Buckeye Field welcome home the Ohio State softball team (6-11), who will begin their home and Big Ten schedule with a three-game series against Iowa (13-6) Friday through Sunday.

Buckeye in a Nutshell
- Ohio State will look to gain momentum against Iowa after falling short in several hard-fought games last weekend at the Duke Invitational.
- Abbie Wilhelm continues to lead the offense, batting .426 with nine home runs. She hit one in each of the four games of the Duke Invitational.
- Wilhelm's nine home runs are tied for fourth best in the Big Ten. And her total through the first month of the season is outpacing current Ohio State single-season home run leader, Jasmyn Burns, who had six in that time frame.
- Wilhelm is joined by Hailey Lang (.325), Skylar Limon (.316), and Taylor Cruse (.315) for averages above .300. The Buckeye offense has generated 33 total home runs, tied with Washington for second-best in the conference.
- Freshman Jenna Molk leads the Buckeye pitching stable in earned run average, innings pitched, wins, and strikeouts, with 32 strikeouts and three wins over 44 innings pitched.
Promotions and More
- The Buckeyes will bring southern weather home with them, with each start time against Iowa projected to have temperatures above 60°.
- Friday and Sunday will feature promotions for fans, including schedule magnet and team poster giveaways. On Saturday, fans can register for the chance to win a team-signed softball. Sunday will also be the first of five Sunday Fundays of the season, which will feature inflatables, free popcorn for youth (while supplies last), and other activities for kids.
- Fans can stick around Sunday to run the bases and meet the team for postgame autographs on the field.

Scouting Iowa
- Currently tied for the sixth-best record in the Big Ten, Iowa travels to Columbus with a 13-6 overall mark through the first four weeks of the 2026 season.
- The Hawkeyes are hitting a cumulative .319, a mark that is fifth best in the conference.
- Six Hawkeyes tout averages above .300, led by Devin Simon (.385). McKenzie Leitgen leads Iowa in both RBI (18) and home runs (six).
- Serayah Neiss has seven of Iowa's wins the circle, with 32 strikeouts and an allowed batting average of .251 over 45 innings pitched.
- Iowa finished the 2025 season 35-18, right behind Ohio State in conference standings at No. 6. Iowa alum Stacy May-Johnson is back at her alma mater for her first season as head coach of the Hawkeyes.
