Ryan Jefferson Signs with Ohio State Diving Team – Ohio State Buckeyes

Ryan Jefferson, of Madison, Wis., has signed a national letter of intent to join the men’s diving team at Ohio State, Vince Panzano, the Buckeyes’ diving coach, announced Wednesday. Jefferson, the top high school prospect in the nation, will enroll at Ohio State next fall.
Jefferson won the silver medal at the Junior Pan Am Games and was a finalist at the Senior Nationals in 2005. He is a two-time junior national champion, sweeping the one- and three-meter springboards in 2003.
“Ryan will be a great addition to our diving program and I fully expect him to carry on the great tradition of outstanding diving at Ohio State,” Panzano, who has coached 10 NCAA champions and 46 Big Ten champions, said. “Ryan is extremely motivated to bring his diving to the next level and wants to be an NCAA champion and Olympian. In addition to being an outstanding athlete, Ryan is an honor student who excels in the classroom. I look forward to working with Ryan and helping him to reach all of his goals.”
Jefferson is a 16-time qualifier for the winter and summer Junior Nationals and won the 3-meter board at U.S./Canadian Challenge Cup in 2003. He his a three-time Wisconsin state high school champion and three-time high school All-American. He owns the Madison Edgewood High School record and is a three-time Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association’s Diver of the Year (2003-05). He is a six-time all-city champion. He was the Madison Sportscasters’ Pen and Mic Club Athlete of the Year in 2005.
