COLUMBUS, Ohio – Joe Ortiz scored in the 72nd minute to give Ohio State a 1-0 win at Maryland last Saturday in College Park. The effort earned him the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Ortiz, a senior Midfielder from Albuquerque, New Mexico, took a cross from the right side from freshman midfielder Laurence Wootton for the goal. It was the first career assist from Wootton, a native of Halstead, England.
The goal was the first of the season and second of his OSU career for Ortiz, who transferred to Ohio State from Air Force prior to the 2019 season. He now has three career goals.
The Buckeyes travel to Michigan State to take on the Spartans at noon Wednesday.
