COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team (27-5, 15-5 Big Ten) travels to Louisville, Ky. for NCAA regionals this week. The ninth-seeded Buckeyes will face eighth-seeded Georgia Tech on Thursday at 3 p.m. or 30 minutes after the conclusion of the 1 p.m. match. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
- Ohio State earned the No. 9 seed in the NCAA Tournament and the chance to host the first two rounds after tying for third in the Big Ten with a 15-5 conference record during the regular season. This is the first time since 2015 that OSU hosted the first two rounds.
- This is the Buckeyes’ 24th NCAA Tournament appearance as OSU holds a 38-23 record.
- The Buckeyes were ranked ninth in the final AVCA poll of the regular season.
- Five OSU players received all-region recognition from the AVCA on Tuesday. Arica Davis was named AVCA Northeast Regional Freshman of the Year while Emily Londot, Mac Podraza and Rylee Rader were named to the all-region team. Kylie Murr received an honorable mention.
- Ohio State earned its spot in the Sweet 16 with a four-set victory (25-18, 14-25, 25-21, 25-21) against Tennessee on Saturday evening inside Covelli in the second round. The Buckeyes reached the second round with a sweep (25-12, 25-7, 25-10) of Howard in the first round.
- Gabby Gonzales (15), Londot (13) and Rader (10) all reached double-figure kills while the Buckeye front line reached 10 blocks as a team for the ninth time this season.
- Murr is now tied for fourth in program history with 1,394 digs. Davis recorded eight blocks, moving into second in single-season program history with 132 block assists and sixth in total blocks (142).
- Georgia Tech enters the Sweet 16 with a 25-5 overall record and a 14-4 mark in conference matches.
- The Yellow Jackets earned two sweeps in the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament, beating The Citadel (25-21, 25-15, 28-26) on Friday and No. 17 Western Kentucky (2-21, 25-18, 25-23) on Saturday.
- Ohio State is 2-0 in the all-time series with Georgia Tech, though the teams most recently met in 2004.
- The Buckeyes earned a sweep (15-8, 15-7, 15-10) during the 1995 season and another (30-26, 30-28, 30-28) in 2004 in Atlanta.
