Ohio State, Penn State Meet Friday Night Under the Lights

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 11th-ranked Ohio State men’s lacrosse team has an opportunity to get back in the win column on Friday night when they host Penn State beginning at 4:30 p.m. inside Ohio Stadium. The game will be carried live on ESPNU with Mike Monaco and Sheehan Stanwick Burch on the call.

The Creator’s Trophy
- Friday night’s game will be the first this season to ultimately determine who takes possession of the Creator’s Trophy.
- The trophy was established in 2012 between Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan – the three Big Ten schools that sponsored lacrosse at the time.
- The coaches from Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State came together and fundraised for the Creator’s trophy prior to the formation of the Big Ten conference for lacrosse.
- The trophy’s design includes three pillars to represent the three institutions: Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan
- The team with the best head to head record amongst the three teams takes ownership of the trophy each year.

- Prices for single game tickets range from $8 for adults to $5 for children/youth (ages 6-17) and senior citizens (62+). Children under the age of six and current Ohio State students with a valid Buck ID get in free.

Military Appreciation Game
- Friday will serve as Ohio State’s annual Military Appreciation Game.
- Additionally, the Ohio State Marching Band is expected to be in attendance.
- A postgame Meet and Greet is scheduled under the awning at the entrance for the recruit room on the east side of the stadium near the home team tunnel.
History vs. Penn State
- Friday marks the 26th all-time meeting between Penn State and Ohio State. The series began in 1979 and the two teams have faced each other annually since 2003 (with the exception of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
- The last Ohio State win in the series came in State College, a 10-8 triumph during the 2015 season.
- The Buckeyes’ last win at home over the Nittany Lions was on March 6, 2010, a 11-10 overtime decision.
- Five of the last nine games have been decided by two goals or less, including both contests last season.

- The Buckeyes are 6-3 on the season and ranked No. 11 in this week’s USILA Coaches Poll.
- Ohio State continues to have one of the nation’s top offenses. The Buckeyes are averaging 14.22 goals per game to rank 13th nationally.
- The extra-man unit is also tops in the country, converting on 64.5 percent of its opportunities (20-of-31).
- Leading scorer Jack Myers (21-26-47) is tops in the Big Ten and No. 6 in the country in assists per game (2.89).
- Fifth-year senior Colby Smith’s 25 goals is the best on the team. He’s scored at least twice in eight of nine games this season.
- The Buckeyes continue to maintain top-15 nationally rankings on man-up offense (No. 1), man-down defense (No. 9), ground balls per game (No. 15), face-off win percentage (No. 4) and scoring margin (No. 14).
Home Sweet Home
- Three of Ohio State’s final four regular season games will be at the friendly confines of Ohio Stadium.
- The Buckeyes host Penn State on April 1, Johns Hopkins on April 9 and Michigan on April 24.
- Ohio State owns a 37-16 record at home since the start of the 2015 season.
- Ohio State is 24-16 inside Ohio Stadium over the past eight seasons.
- The Buckeyes have won 26 of their last 34 home games since the start of the 2017 season.
