COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team hosts the Jesse Owens Classic this weekend at the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Admission is free along with parking in Gray 6 and 7. The meet begins on Friday with field events at 1 p.m. and track events at 4:30 p.m. Saturday’s action begins at 10 a.m. with field events, while track events begin at noon.
- The Buckeyes competed at both the Gamecock Invite and Cherry Blossom Invite last weekend.
- At the Gamecock Invite:
- The women’s 4x100m relay set the first of two outdoor school records as Yanique Dayle, Anavia Battle, Nya Bussey and Leah Bertrand finished in just 43.17, also winning the race.
- Abbey Kuhn set the second school record by clearing 4.15m in the pole vault.
- Eric Harrison won both the 100m (10.27) and 200m (20.49) on the men’s side, while Battle won the 100m (11.17) and 200m (22.42) on the women’s side.
- The OSU women also won the 4x400m relay (3:30.25) with Jaydan Wood, Chanler Robinson, Alyssa Marsh and Bryannia Murphy on the winning team.
- The Buckeyes swept the triple jump competition with Jaimie Robinson winning on the women’s side (13.04m) and Clarence Foote-Talley winning on the men’s side (15.64m).
- Other field wins include Alexus Pyles (women’s long jump, 5.96m), Luke Bendick (men’s pole vault, 5.15m), Shaun Miller Jr. (men’s high jump, 2.15m), Adelaide Aquilla (women’s shot put, 17.53m) and Carlos Aviles (men’s discus throw, 56.14m).
- At the Cherry Blossom Invite:
- In the women’s 800m, Aziza Ayoub won (2:05.69) as the Buckeyes captured the top four spots. Nick Miller won the men’s 800m (1:49.61) as the Buckeyes finished in five of the top six spots.
- David Palmer won the men’s 400m hurdles (53.66).
- The Buckeyes swept the 4x400m relay finishing in 3:17.29 on the men’s side and 3:47.31 on the women’s side.
