
Ohio State Sprinters Close New Mexico Collegiate Classic

The Buckeyes advanced six athletes to event semifinals.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team competed at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque this weekend.
Kyler Brown led the way for Ohio State, participating in the men's 60m. The freshman recorded a time of 6.61 and placed third in the prelims, qualifying for the semi's along with Dominic Calhoun (6.69) and Nazzio John (6.77). In the semifinals Brown placed fifth with a time of 6.60, earning a spot in the 60m finals where he would finish fifth with a 6.68. Brown's time of 6.60 (altitude-adjusted to 6.62) in New Mexico is his second best this season.

The Buckeyes will be back in action Friday, participating in the David Henry Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass. and the Tiger Paw Invitational hosted by Clemson.

- Women' 60m Prelims: Laila Campbell recorded a 7.46, Bobbi Olive finished in 7.37 and Laila Hackett registered a time of 7.44. All three athletes qualified for the semifinals.
- Men's 60m Semis: Brown placed fifth with a time of 6.60, qualifying for the finals.
- Women' 60m Semis: Olive recorded her second-best time of the season (7.38) and finished 10th.
- Men's 60m Finals: Brown finished in 6.68 and placed fifth.
Friday, February 6
- Men's 200m Unseeded: Calhoun recorded a personal best 20.99 and placed third.
- Women's 200m Unseeded: Campbell earned a fifth-place finish and a PR with a time of 23.50.
- Men's 200m Invitational: Nick Biega finished in 20.63 and placed fourth while John crossed the line in 20.95 and placed eighth.
The Buckeyes will be back in action Friday, participating in the David Henry Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass. and the Tiger Paw Invitational hosted by Clemson.
