How it Happened
Ohio State wasted no time taking the lead on Saturday, as Gabby Rosenthal scored what would be the game-winning goal just 17 seconds into the game. The Buckeyes continued their pressure on the Lions, scoring three goals in the first five minutes of the game. Paetyn Levis netted her first goal of the day at 3:58 and Brook Bink scored her first of three goals 17 second later at 4:15. The team’s final goal of the period came from Liz Schepers, who capitalized off a rebounded shot and added another power play goal to Ohio State’s resume.
The Buckeyes kept rolling into the second period, with Brooke Bink scoring right after a Buckeye penalty kill at 1:57. Ramsey Parent added one of her own at 13:15, sliding the puck between the legs of Lindenwood’s Emily Finach. With under two minutes to play in the second, Sophie Jaques competed her four-point game with a goal to bring the Ohio State lead to seven.
Lauren Bernard became the seventh Buckeye to light the lamp on Saturday, scoring her own goal at 12:17 in the third period. Levis added her second goal of the game at 14:05 to extend the Buckeye lead to nine. As the clock ticked down, Bink recorded her third goal with just four seconds to play to give Ohio State a 10-0 advantage.
Between the pipes for the Buckeyes, Amanda Thiele posted her second shutout of her career. She made 12 saves on the day in her fifth start of the year. The sophomore improves to 5-0-0 on the season.
