No. 13 Buckeyes Undefeated at Home with 2-1 Win vs. MSU

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 13 Ohio State (9-1-5, 4-1-2) scored near the end of the first half and early in the second secure a 2-1 win over visiting Michigan State (6-7-2, 3-3-1) Tuesday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Ohio State finished the home regular-season schedule with a 7-0-2 record.
Four Ohio State seniors were recognized during pregame ceremonies.
Keeper Keagan McLaughlin, midfielders Chris Dowling and Xavier Green along with forward Devyn Etling have played more than 175 games at Ohio State during their careers.

How it Happened
Laurence Wootton connected on a penalty kick in the 32nd minute after Devyn Etling was fouled in the box for the 1-0 lead. It was the fifth goal of the year for Wootton and 12th as a Buckeye.

Anthony Samways then took a corner in the 47th minute that was headed in by Nathan Demian for a 2-0 advantage. It was Demian’s first career score. Samways has five assists on the year and seven for his career.

The Spartans cut the Ohio State lead in half with a goal in the 65th minute by Conner George.
- Ohio State is 9-0-1 on the year when scoring the first goal of the game (Wootton, 32')
- It was Senior Night in Columbus. Keeper Keagan McLaughlin, midfielders Chris Dowling and Xavier Green along with forward Devyn Etling were recognized during pregame ceremonies.
- Dowling has played in 25 matches for the Buckeyes with two goals and three assists. Etling owns 59 career appearances with 14 goals and two assists. Green is a veteran of 74 Ohio State matches with nine scores and six assists. McLaughlin is in his second year at Ohio State with 20 appearances and six shutouts.
- The Buckeyes are 7-0-2 at home during regular-season play in Columbus. Ohio State was 8-0-1 in 2010 and 4-0-1 in 1974 and 4-0-0 in both 1965 and 1967 to mark the only other undefeated home seasons in Ohio State history.
- In games played at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium since it opened in 1999, Ohio State is 131-67-34.
