Buckeyes Win Third Straight Big Ten Series

Game Recap
- With two outs in the bottom of the first inning, Noah Furcht and Dane Harvey hit back-to-back singles. Maddix Simpson then hit a double to send Furcht home. A single to center field from Jacob Parr plated two more runs to give the Buckeyes a 3-0 lead.
- The Nittany Lions scored two runs in the top of the second off of an RBI groundout and a Buckeye error to cut the Ohio State lead to one, 3-2.
- Grant Mangrum tripled to lead off the bottom of the second inning, followed by a single from Alex Bemis to bring Mangrum home and put the Buckeyes up, 4-2. Henry Kaczmar walked and Furcht reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases for the Buckeyes. Harvey walked to send Bemis home and an RBI fielder's choice for Maddix Simpson put the Buckeyes ahead by four, 6-2.
- With one out in the bottom of the fourth inning, Harvey hit his seventh home run of the season to center field to put the Buckeyes ahead 7-2.
- Penn State hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to cut the Buckeye lead back to four, 7-3.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Miles Vandenheuvel reached first on a fielder's choice and Mangrum was hit by a pitch to reach base. The paid executed a successful double steal to get into scoring position. Bemis was then hit by a pitch to load the bases. Kaczmar stepped up to the dish next and he hit a grand slam to clear the bases and extend Ohio State's lead, 11-3. It is the fifth grand slam of the season for the Buckeyes. Furcht was next up and singled and advanced to second base on a groundout from Harvey. A single from Simpson sent Furcht home and gave the Buckeyes a commanding 12-3 lead over the Nittany Lions.
- Penn State scored on an RBI single, an RBI double and an RBI groundout in the top of the sixth to cut Ohio State's lead to six, 12-6.
- In the bottom of the sixth inning, Lee Ellis was hit by a pitch to reach base and then stole second. A single from Mangrum plated Ellis and gave Ohio State a seven-run lead, 13-6.
- Simpson reached first on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the seventh inning. Parr stepped up next and he hit his first career home run to add two more runs for the Buckeyes and put them ahead, 15-6.
- The Nittany Lions scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning to leave the Buckeyes leading by five, 15-10.
- With one out and the bases loaded in the top of the ninth, Nick Sawyer got out of the jam, striking out two straight Nittany Lions to ice the 15-10 win for the Buckeyes.
- Parr led the Buckeyes with a career-high three hits. Furcht, Simpson, Harvey, Ellis and Mangrum each added two hits.
- Parr and Kaczmar led the team in RBIs with four each. It is a career-high for Parr. Kaczmar has now recorded 150 career RBIs.
- Pierce Herrenbruck (4-1) earned the win on the mound. He allowed five earned runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings pitched.
- Sawyer struck out two and allowed one hit in 1.0 scoreless inning.
- The Buckeyes close out their nine-game home stand when they host Marshall at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15.
