The Buckeyes were up one going into the bottom of the seventh

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State softball (19-20) dropped game one of its three-game series with Michigan, 10-8.

After trailing by as much as four, Ohio State retook the lead 8-7 in the top of the seventh on a bases-clearing triple by Hailey Lang, but would fall short via a three-run home run in the bottom half of the inning.

Seven different Buckeyes collected hits, with Hadley Parisien, Abbie Wilhelm, Sami Bewick, Taylor Cruse, Hailey Lang, and Izzy Neal each having two or more. Lang drove in three runs, with Bewick driving in two. Both Bewick and Cruse homered on the day.

Jenna Molk got the start on the mound, but it was Lorin Boutte who would toss 4.0 innings in relief, 3.2 of which were shutout. Boutte struck out seven, just one shy of her season high.

How it Happened

Michigan took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an Ella Stephenson single that scored Indiana Langford.
Taylor Cruse answered in the top of the second, leading off the inning with a home run that tied the game at one apiece.
Michigan retook the lead 2-1 in their next at bat with a Maddie Erickson home run.
The Buckeyes would answer again, this time taking the lead on a Sami Bewick two run home run that scored Hadley Parisien.
The Wolverines plated five in the bottom of the third on run scoring hits by Lauren Putz, Ella Stephenson, Maddie Erickson, Kiley Carr, and Janelle Illacqua, taking a 7-3 lead.
Ohio State cut into the lead, plating two on an Abbie Wilhelm two-run homer that scored Parisien.
The Buckeyes retook the lead on a bases-loaded triple by Hailey Lang that cleared the bases and put Ohio State back on top, 8-7.
Michigan sealed the game 10-8 with a Jenissa Conway three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh.
Lorin Boutte got the loss for Ohio State, scattering six hits and striking out seven, while not allowing an earned run for 3.2 innings. Grayson Lamarche got the win in relief for Michigan.
