No. 15 Ohio State Drops Match vs No. 10 Lindenwood

The Buckeyes Take on No. 13 McKendree Saturday
COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 15 Ohio State (9-7, 4-4) fell to No. 10 Lindenwood (13-2, 5-1) in three sets Thursday in its first of two home games this weekend.
After a hard-fought match from both teams, Lindenwood took three close sets with scores of 25-22, 25-23 and 25-22.
Shane Wetzel and Stanislaw Chacinski led Ohio State in kills with nine each. Wetzel, Daniel Henwood Rodriguez and Drew Hudson all added six digs.
Henwood Rodriguez led the Buckeyes with four blocks and two service aces. Daniel Hurley added two service aces as well.
Set 1 (25-22, LIN)
Ohio State started the match with a kill by Daniel Hurley on the outside, 1-0. Daniel Henwood Rodriguez put down an early setter dump for the 2-1 lead. The Lions went on a 5-1 run for the lead, 6-3. Henwood Rodriguez had a service ace to put the Buckeyes within one-point, 6-5. Stanislaw Chacinski and Aaron Grimm put up a massive block to tie the set at 6-all. A great save by Shane Wetzel and a kill from Grimm gave Ohio State a two-point advantage, 9-7. A kill by Wetzel preserved the Buckeyes' lead, 14-13. Lindenwood possessed the lead going into the media timeout, 15-14. A huge kill by Eliel Salva-Torres out of the middle put Ohio State within one-point of the Lions, 19-18. The Lions extended their lead to a three-point advantage, 22-19. After a close first set, Lindenwood took it 25-22.

Set 2 (25-23, LIN)
Salva-Torres and Henwood Rodriguez had a huge block to tie the second set at 2-all. Henwood Rodriguez put up a solo block right after for the 3-2 lead. Chacinski continued the Buckeyes' lead with another kill, 5-3. A massive back row attack by Hurley kept the two-point advantage, 6-4. Another kill by Grimm from the middle extended the Ohio State lead, 10-6. The Lions went on a small 3-0 run to close the scoring gap, 10-9 Buckeyes. Chacinski tied it for Ohio State with a kill from the back row, 12-all. Lindenwood possessed a three-point advantage to force a timeout by the Buckeyes, 16-13. Another huge block by Henwood Rodriguez and Grimm started to close the scoring gap, 18-16. The Lions took control of the lead again, 21-18. Salva-Torres got Ohio State back within two-points with a kill, 22-20. A back row kill by Hurley after a strenuous rally put the Buckeyes within one-point, 22-21. The Lions took the second set 25-23.

Set 3 (25-22, LIN)
The Buckeyes started the third set strong with another kill by Salva-Torres out of the middle, 1-0. Salva-Torres put up another kill for the 3-1 lead. A kill by Chacinski gave Ohio State a three-point advantage, 6-3. Wetzel extended the Buckeyes' lead with a kill from the right-side, 8-4. Another kill by Wetzel preserved the four-point advantage for Ohio State, 10-6. The Lions tied the set with a 4-0 run, 10-all. Chacinski gave the Buckeyes back the lead, with a kill from the outside, 12-11. A massive back row kill by Hurley extended the Ohio State lead, 13-11. Grimm's kill from the middle tied the set at 14-all. Another kill by Grimm gave the Buckeyes back the lead, 17-16. A kill by Hurley from the outside kept the one-point advantage, 19-18. The Lions kept it close at 21-all. Chacinski kept the set tied up with another kill, 22-all. Lindenwood took the third set 25-22.
