Teams will meet in Evanston Sunday
The Basics
- The Ohio State women's lacrosse team starts its Big Ten slate with a game at No. 4 Northwestern at 1 p.m. ET Sunday in Ryan Fieldhouse in Evanston, Ill.

- Ohio State is 5-2 on the year and coming off a 16-4 win over Vanderbilt last Saturday. The Wildcats are 5-2 and fell to No. 14 Syracuse, 9-6, at home Thursday.
- The series between Ohio State and Northwestern started in 2002. The teams were members in the American Lacrosse Conference together before the addition of lacrosse to the Big Ten in 2015.Â
- Last year, Northwestern posted a 20-12 victory in Columbus in the regular season finale.Â
- The last game between the teams in Evanston was a 19-10 Wildcat win April 13, 2024.Â
- Northwestern is 5-2 this year, with wins over Boston College, Army, Central Michigan, Marquette and Stony Brook and losses to Colorado and Syracuse.Â
- The Wildcats are first in the NCAA in shots per game (38.67) and second in the country in scoring offense (18.33 goals per game) and allow 8.33 goals a game. The squad is third in draw controls per game (18.50) and ninth in draw control percentage (.645).
- Individually, Madison Taylor ranks second nationally in goals per game (5.0) and points per game (7.0). Jenika Cuocco is seventh in save percentage (.531).
- For the second year in a row, Buckeye goalie Jocelyn Torres has been named to the watch list for the Tewaaraton Award.Â
- This year, she has started all seven games for the Buckeyes, with 49 saves (9.49 goals-against average, .454 save percentage).
- Torres has 59 collegiate games played (all starts), with a 10.40 gaa and .457 sv%. Â
- She matched her career best with 14 saves at Louisville Feb. 10 in a double overtime win, had 10 stops against Vanderbilt last week and made nine saves at North Carolina Feb. 20.
- Ohio State is 16th in the NCAA in scoring offense, with 14.86 goals per game.
- The Buckeyes have held their last three opponents to four goals or less and are allowing 9.14 goals per game on the year.Â
- So far this season, the Buckeyes are averaging 29.7 shots on goal a game and holding opponents to 22.4 per outing. Ohio State is 13th nationally in shooting percentage (.500) and ranks 23rd in shots on goal per game (22.43).Â
- Abby Boyle, who was first on the team with 50 draw controls last year, had a program-record 16 against Detroit Mercy Feb. 27. The program record had been 13, set three times prior, with the last March 10, 2022 by Chloe Johnson. Boyle now leads the Buckeyes with 42 draw controls and has five or more in each of the last five games.
- Ohio State is 19th in the NCAA in draw controls per game (15.00) and has a .565 draw control percentage.Â
- Maddy Paz had a career-high four assists and five points last time out vs. Vanderbilt. She has four or more points in each of the last three games and multiple points in each of the last six outings. Paz has 12 goals and eight assists for 20 points through seven games this year, ranking third on the team in goals and points, after a six-goal season as a freshman last year.Â
- Junior Kate Tyack leads the Buckeyes with 11 assists and is second with 17 goals, tying for first with 28 points. She has multiple points in all seven games this season, with multiple assists in four games and multiple goals in five. Tyack had four goals, two assists and six points last time out and now has 75 goals and 99 points in her Buckeye career. Â She is on 13-game goal and point streaks, with 29 goals and 42 points in the stretch.
- Brooke Vinson had a hat trick against Vanderbilt last week, her first career multiple-goal game as a Buckeye. Â
- Senior transfer Camryn Callaghan has a team-high 20 goals and shares the point lead with 28 points, ranking second with seven assists.Â
- Callaghan moved her career toal to 214 career points (177g, 37a). She has a point in each of her last 22 games, with a 58-14-72 line in the stretch. Callaghan ranks sixth among current NCAA players in career goals and eighth in points. This year, she is tied for fifth nationally in free position goals per game (1.00)
- Against Vanderbilt, Annie Hargraves notched her first hat trick of the season for her seventh career game with three or more goals. Â
- Senior Darrien Furiness, who has started all seven games after playing in nine games the last three years combined, shares the team ground ball lead with Kampbell Stone and Jocelyn Torres with 11 each.Â
- Stone and Lindsey McCulloch are tied for first with seven caused turnovers.Â
- Hargraves, Torres and Stone were selected the Buckeyes' team captains for this season.
- The Buckeyes will return home to host Rutgers at 6 p.m. March 19.Â
- Admission and parking are free for all Ohio State regular season home games in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.
- Ohio State will then play at Johns Hopkins at noon March 22 in Baltimore.Â
