Jaloni Cambridge scored her 1,000th career point and Kennedy Cambridge reached 100 steals this season in Sunday’s win.

EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 9/9 Ohio State women's basketball team (22-3, 11-2 B1G) completed its road trip with an 80-64 victory against Oregon (18-8, 6-7 B1G) on Sunday afternoon.

Each team went on a 10-0 run during the first quarter and Ohio State led by a 22-18 margin after the frame. The Buckeye defense allowed only one basket and seven total points in the second quarter, building a 34-25 halftime lead. Ohio State extended its lead to 56-44 after 30 minutes of play. The Buckeyes earned an 80-64 win after a 24-20 fourth quarter.

Kennedy Cambridge became the second player in program history to record 100 steals in a season as her eight steals today brought her season total to 104. Jaloni Cambridge became the 40^th player in program history to score 1,000 career points, doing so with 19 points in her 54^th career game. Elsa Lemmilä was the first in the game to reach double figures and finished with a career-high 23 points. K. Cambridge (20), Ava Watson (10) and J. Cambridge (19) joined Lemmilä in double figures today.

Quarter-by-Quarter Recap

Q1: J. Cambridge opened the game's scoring and the teams traded baskets until a 10-0 Buckeye run gave Ohio State a 14-5 lead with 5:24 to play in the opening frame. The Buckeyes pushed their lead to 20-8 but the Ducks responded with a 10-0 run of their own to close the gap to 20-18. Ohio State held the 22-18 advantage after 10 minutes.
Q2: After Oregon scored the first basket of the second quarter, Ohio State's defense did not allow a point for the next 4:40 and held a 28-20 lead midway through the quarter. The Buckeyes extended their lead back to double digits at 32-22 and led by a 34-25 margin going into the locker room.
Q3: Lemmilä began scoring in the second half before Oregon got on the board with a three-pointer. J. Cambridge surpassed 1,000 career points on an old-fashioned three-point play with 5:57 to play in the quarter, boosting the Buckeyes' lead to 47-34. A Watson layup pushed the Ohio State lead to 56-38 with just over three minutes to play in the quarter and led by a 56-44 mark after 30 minutes.
Q4: An extended 12-3 Buckeye run early in the fourth quarter prompted a Ducks timeout as Ohio State held a 68-49 advantage with 6:40 remaining in the game. A fastbreak layup from J. Cambridge gave the Buckeyes their largest lead of the game at 70-49. The Ducks went on an 11-2 run to trim their deficit to 72-60 with 2:46 to play. That would be the closest Oregon got down the stretch as Ohio State was able to get to the charity stripe, capping scoring at 80-64.

Game Notes

Jaloni Cambridge became the 40^th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points, doing so in her 54^th game today. She finished the game with 19 points – scoring at least 10 points in every game this season. She also tied her career-high eight assists.
Kennedy Cambridge's eight steals today brings her season total to 104. This is only the second time in program history that a player has recorded 100 or more steals in a single season. Yvette Angel holds the single season record with 115 steals during the 1984-85 season.
All five Buckeye starters scored within the first four minutes of the game.
This is the 15^th game of the season that Ohio State has tallied at least 10 steals, finishing today's game with 14 steals.
This is the 16^th game of the season that the Buckeye defense has forced 20 or more turnovers. The Ducks committed 23 turnovers today.
The Buckeyes made their first 12 free throw attempts in the game.
Elsa Lemmilä was the first in the game to reach double figures and was the only player in the game to reach doubles in the first half.
