
Ohio State Earns Top 15 Road Win at Georgetown

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 9 Ohio State men's lacrosse team picked up its first ranked win of the season, earning a 10-9 victory over No. 11 Georgetown on the road Saturday. The Buckeyes improve to 6-0 on the year with the win over the Hoyas (1-2) at Cooper Field in Washington, D.C.
The teams traded leads throughout the game and were tied with under five minutes to play before Ohio State's Garrett Haas recorded the game-winning goal with 1:43 left in regulation. Haas led the team with four points and three goals on the day.
Caleb Fyock tied his season high with 11 saves against the Hoyas. Eight of his saves were made in the first half. The Buckeyes caused nine turnovers, with Fyock, Jonny Cool and Kyle Foster leading the team with two each.
Ohio State outshot Georgetown, 35-34, won the ground ball battle with 34 in the game and had a season-low 15 turnovers to earn the win over the Hoyas.

How it Happened
- Neither team's defense allowed a goal in the first 10 minutes of the game. Georgetown was first to find the back of the net, scoring twice in the opening frame to take a 2-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Ohio State's defense caused four of the Hoya's five turnovers in the quarter.
- In the second quarter, the Buckeyes held the Hoyas scoreless with Caleb Fyock stopping all four shots faced in the frame. Ohio State scored three times with two goals from Alex Marinier and a man-up goal from Jackson Walsh for the 3-2 lead at the half.
- The Buckeyes tallied their third straight goal and increased the lead to two with Brad Sharp scoring 40 seconds into the second half.
- Georgetown went on to score twice in the next two minutes before Ohio State responded with a pair of goals from Cullen Brown and Garrett Haas for the 6-4 Buckeye lead five minutes into the second half.
- The Hoyas put together a three-goal scoring run in the final nine minutes of the third quarter to take a 7-6 lead with 1:13 on the clock. Sharp bookended the quarter with a last second, quick-stick goal to send the teams to the fourth quarter tied at seven.
- Ohio State scored twice in the first five minutes of the final frame and Georgetown scored twice in the second five minutes. The teams were knotted at nine goals apiece with under six minutes remaining in the game.
- Garrett Haas tallied the game-winning goal with 1:43 to play in the game.
- Fyock made two saves in the final quarter. Both teams took 10 shots in the fourth with Ohio State allowing only four shots on target.
- Saturday was Ohio State's first ranked game and win of the season. The Buckeyes' next six games are against ranked opponents.
- Alex Marinier recorded his 100th career point with two goals in the game. He now has 101 points for his career and is the 34th player in program to hit the 100-point mark.
- Ohio State is now even in the all-time series against Georgetown. The teams have met just four times with Ohio State earning its first win in the series since it started in 1982.
