COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 7 Ohio State men's lacrosse team lost to No. 1 Notre Dame, 9-8, Saturday in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. The Buckeyes suffer their first loss of the season and are now 6-1, with the Irish improving to 5-0.

The game featured six ties and six lead changes, with the Irish notching the final go-ahead goal with 2:47 remaining. Caleb Fyock had nine saves for the Buckeyes and Garrett Haas, Jackson Walsh and Liam White each scored twice. The Buckeyes caused five turnovers, led by Kyle Foster with and Jake Cohen with two each, and Jack Oldman was first for the Buckeyes with seven faceoff wins and five ground balls. Ohio State was ahead in shots, 37-26, and ground balls, 22-21.

How it Happened
- Notre Dame scored the game's first two goals at 13:50 and 8:17.
- Ohio State got on the board with a Garrett Haas score at 3:58 and tied the game with just seven seconds left in the quarter. Liam White deadlocked the game, assisted by Brad Sharp.
- The Buckeyes were ahead 4-3 at halftime.
- A man-up goal from Notre Dame put the Irish up 3-2 at 12:55. Back-to-back man-up goals from Buckeyes Jackson Walsh, assisted by Jackson Birtwistle, and Haas, set up by Russell Melendez, at 8:02 and 3:36, respectively, gave Ohio State a 4-3 lead.
- Each team scored twice in the third quarter for a 6-5 Buckeye advantage.
- Notre Dame opened the scoring in the second half at 12:43 to tie the game at four.
- Unassisted Ohio State goals at 11:16 from Khalif Hocker and at 5:55 from Walsh put the Buckeyes ahead by two, 6-4.
- Notre Dame notched the final goal of the third with 1:01 remaining for a one-goal game and tied the game 30 seconds into the fourth. A goal at 12:16 put Notre Dame up 7-6.
- Ohio State would again draw even. At 7:33 Liam White deadlocked the score at seven and Dominic Shaw set up an Alex Marinier goal at 6:44 for an 8-7 Buckeye advantage.
- The Irish tallied the game's final two goals, at 5:56 and 2:47, for the win.
- Caleb Fyock had nine saves for the Buckeyes, with three in the second and third quarters. The Irish goalie had 13 stops, including four in the fourth.
