Abby Boyle sets draw control record in victory
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's lacrosse team defeated Detroit Mercy, 22-4, under sunny skies Friday afternoon in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. The Buckeyes (3-2) led 9-0 after the first quarter and 15-1 at the half en route to the victory over the Titans (0-3).

Camryn Callaghan, Zoe Coleman and Bella Tan each had a hat trick and an assist for four points for the Buckeyes, while Maddy Paz had four points with two goals and two assists. Abby Boyle set the program record with 16 draw controls in the win. In all, 15 Buckeyes had at least one point.

- The Buckeyes wrap up the weekend with a game against Robert Morris at noon Sunday and will continue the homestand against Vanderbilt at 11 a.m. March 7.Â

- Admission and parking are free for all Ohio State regular season home games in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.
- Ohio State scored four times in the first five minutes of the contest. Kampbell Stone tallied at 13:56 and Audrey Rudolph scored, set up by Maddy Paz, less than a minute later.
- Back to back player up goals followed, from Camryn Callaghan and Zoe Coleman (assisted by Brooke Vinson).
- Paz scored on a breakaway at 6:45 with the Buckeyes player down for a 5-0 game.
- Callaghan tallied the next two to complete her hat trick, including a player up free position score, and then set up Paz. An unassisted Kate Tyack goal closed out the first quarter.
- Coleman tallied twice in the first four minutes of the second quarter, with the first assisted by Paz, to complete her hat trick.
- A free position goal by Makena Harrington followed and Isabelle Osborn found Rudolph for her second of the day at 6:48 for a 13-0 Ohio State advantage.
- The Titans broke up the shutout at 4:44 but goals from Osborn and Olivia Orso gave the Buckeyes a 15-1 lead at the half.
- In the third, Ohio State outscored the Titans, 3-1, to push the lead to 18-2.
- A give-and-go goal between Coleman and Annie Hargraves opened the scoring in the quarter at 11:51.
- Vinson set up Bella Tan at 8:25 before a Titan tally. Tan assisted on a Caitlyn Durchanek goal at 4:30.
- The Buckeyes added four goals in the fourth quarter, with Detroit Mercy scoring twice.
- Tan had two goals for a hat trick, with the second assisted by Lydia Tangney, while Maddie White also scored and Orso set up Durchanek for her second of the day.
- Abby Boyle had a program-record 16 draw controls in the game and Ohio State recorded 23 of the 28 draws. Delaney Harlan had five draw controls for Ohio State.
- Ohio State had the edge in ground balls, 12-7, led by Tangney, Callaghan and Paz with two each.Â
- All three Buckeye goalies played in the game, combining for four saves with Ohio State limiting Detroit Mercy to nine shot attempts. Jocelyn Torres played the first half and had one save, while Camille Samarasinghe and Emmalynn Francis each played a quarter and made one save each.
- Ohio State's 22 goals came on 29 shot attempts. UDM's goalies had three saves.
- With 16 draw controls, Boyle broke the program record of 13, set three times prior, with the last March 10, 2022 by Chloe Johnson. Boyle leads the Buckeyes with 32 draw controls this season after posting a team-high 50 as a freshman last year.
- Callaghan has a team-high 15 goals and 21 points and is second with six assists. She now has 207 career points (172g, 35a). Callaghan has a point in each of her last 20 games, with a 53-12-65 line in the stretch.
- Paz had a career-high four points, with her fifth career two-goal game and second career two-assist outing. She has four-straight multiple-point games and is third on the team with 15 points on the year.
- Osborn marked her second two-point game of the season and her career with a goal and an assist.
- Coleman now has seven games with three or more goals as a Buckeye, along with seven games with four or more points.
- The hat trick and assist marked the first points for Tan as a Buckeye.
- Vinson had her second career two-assist outing and the first since Feb. 16, 2024 at Youngstown State. It was her third career multiple-point outing and her second of the year.
- Durchanek's two goals were the first of her collegiate career.
- White's goal was her first while wearing the Scarlet and Gray.
- Francis saw her first collegiate action in goal and made her first save. Freshmen Sammie Bender and Kylee O'Donnell also made their Buckeye debuts.Â
- Rudolph had a career-high two goals and points in the win.
- Tangney's assist was her first collegiate point.
- Tyack is second for the Buckeyes with 10 goals and 19 points and is first with nine assists. She is on 11-game goal and point streaks (22g, 32p).
