Buckeyes In a Nutshell
- Ohio State makes its second road trip of the season this weekend after starting the road scheduled with a 14-9 win at Air Force Feb. 14. The trip is the team's first of two to the DMV this season.
- Saturday's matchup against No. 11 Georgetown is Ohio State's first of seven straight games against teams currently ranked in the USILA Men's Division I Coaches Poll. Ohio State holds ninth in this week's poll with 387 points. Â
- The Buckeye defense is ranked second nationally entering the weekend, allowing just 6.00 goals per game this year. Caleb Fyock has started every game in goal for the Buckeyes this season and leads the country with a 5.94 goals-against average. The junior from Bowie, Md. has a Big Ten-best save percentage of 60 percent. Cullen Brown leads the team with 10 caused turnovers on the year. With 69 caused turnovers for his career, he four shy of tying the program record. Brown also leads non-faceoff players with 15 ground balls this season. Â
- The team is top five in the country in ground balls per game (39.00) and scoring margin (8.80) and leads the Big Ten in both categories. Â
- Buckeye attackers Garrett Haas and Alex Marinier are among Big Ten's top point producers in the first month of the season. The duo is in the top five in total points while Haas paces the conference with 2.60 assists per game and 4.80 points per game and Marinier is fourth in goals per game (2.28). Marinier's four man-up goals are tied for the most in the country and are the most among Big Ten players.
- Ohio State's faceoff tandem of junior Jack Oldman and freshman Matt Mayfield has helped the Buckeyes to a conference-best win percentage from the faceoff X. Oldman continues to lead the Big Ten with a 68.8 win percentage with Mayfield close behind at 62.5 percent. Oldman and Mayfield are first and second, respectively, in the conference in ground balls per game. Â
- Saturday marks the fourth meeting all-time between Ohio State and Georgetown and the first since 2002. The Buckeyes won the first game of the series, played in 1982, with the Hoyas taking the next two.
- Head coach Nick Myers is in his 18th season leading the Scarlet and Gray. In his Ohio State career, he has led the team to a 150-110 record. He is assisted by associate head coach Travis Crane and assistant coaches James Purpura and Justin Tuma.
