COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Buckeyes are back home at the Covelli Center this weekend to face two Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association rivals, No. 8 Ball State (12-1, 4-0) and Purdue Fort Wayne (7-3, 2-1). No. 13 Ohio State (7-4, 2-1) split its series against Queens University of Charlotte (6-5, 1-3) last weekend.Â
- The Buckeyes continue their intra-conference play this weekend against Ball State, ranked No. 1 in the MIVA conference, and Purdue Fort Wayne ranked No. 3.Â
-  Ohio State will head to Illinois for two away games next week at Lewis University and Loyola University of Chicago Feb. 26/March 1.Â
- Â In the series with Ball State, Ohio State owns a 105-94 record all-time dating to 1968. The Buckeyes are 58-39 at home in the series. Against Purdue Fort Wayne, Ohio State is 88-43 with a 48-12 record in Columbus.
- Daniel Hurley was back in the lineup for the Buckeyes against Queens last weekend, putting up 36 kills, six blocks, and 15 digs in two matches.Â
- Drew Hudson put up 18 digs in the two matchups to total 88 so far this season. Â
- Following a team vote, Shane Wetzel and Hudson were named captains for the 2026 season. Hudson is the first sophomore to earn captain honors in the history of the program. Â
- Wetzel currently ranks 13th in Ohio State history with 1,129 kills for his career. He and sophomore Stan Chacinski were named to the 2026 preseason All-MIVA squad.  Â
- Wetzel and Chacinski both were recognized as 2025 AVCA Honorable Mention All-Americans after earning 2025 postseason Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association honors. In addition, the MIVA coaches voted Ohio State in the No. 2 position in the league 2026 preseason poll.  Â
- In his seventh season, Kevin Burch achieved his 100th win as Ohio State's head coach (102-65) with the victory against Lincoln Memorial (3-0). Securing the win against the Railsplitters gave Burch win No. 100 to go with one regular-season MIVA title, a pair of league tournament championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances.Â
